Goryeojang

This term refers to a legendary Korean custom of abandoning elderly and sick parents on a mountain to die.

It mainly appears in folktales and stories, and was often used as a subject to teach lessons related to filial impiety.

There is little historical evidence that it was widely practiced during the actual Goryeo Dynasty. Most scholars consider it a distorted folktale or a story that originated from misunderstandings during the Japanese colonial period.
